If I am understanding correctly, this is a good reminder that we (I) shouldn’t expect HRV to “go up” as a measure of success during recovery periods, or as an indicator that fitness is improving. Thanks, Marco 🙏

hi Marco, great insights again on how to interpret and use HRV. I was wondering how you look upon the value of stress level measurements as revealed by fitbit and garmin watches. are these outcomes reliable indicators of one's energy levels and usage? are they properly sensitive towards bodily and mental stressors to your expert opinion?

Real-time stress monitors and continuous HRV measurements are an unfortunate application, I discuss it here: https://marcoaltini.substack.com/p/a-quick-note-on-continuous-heart - my recommendation is to use a good protocol when measuring, which ensures the data is tightly coupled to our stress response, and therefore to avoid these approaches.
